Remove the guard at the other end of the drain pipe if there is one.
Bypass my in ground gutter drain.
Place the end of a plumber s auger also known as a snake into the underground.
Pull the underground drain which is often a black corrugated plastic pipe away from the end of the downspout.
Turn on a garden hose to its most powerful setting and run water through the drain pipe.
